On The Tenth Day Of Christmas
I ordered a gift for my brother and it was sent via UPS Next-Day delivery, and it even cost me a chunk of money for shipping. The item was supposed to be delivered today, so this afternoon I checked the status, and it said was delivered at 10:23 in the morning (I would guess Pacific time) and it also said that the package was "left with boy" (exact words) This kind of bothered me, so I texted my brother and asked if there was a boy in their house. He said no, there wasn't and I told him that I sent him a package and it was left with a boy. I asked him if he had a neighbor with a kid, and he said he did not think so. He then said that he would go home and check it out - their office is only ten minutes away - and after ten minutes he said there was no package, no boy, nothing. This made me quite ill with sadness - could it really be possible that people would steal Christmas gifts? This is a real life Grinch situation, indeed. I called UPS and they didn't seem to be very enthusiastic in helping me, although they did say they would "look into it," and promised to call me back. Call me a cynic, but I really doubt they would be able to give me a sufficient answer. I could escalate and escalate, but a part of me wonders if all the effort would be worth it. It just makes me very very sad that the gift I chose won't be able to be received. I wonder if this is Mercury Retrograde in action, or just plain bad luck. So much for Christmas spirit....
