Reflections At Three AM

It's 3 in the morning and - what else is new - I can't go to sleep. And believe me, I tried. I can probably blame it on the 5 hour nap I had earlier, so.... I tried to productive. I have done a load of laundry (I have so much to do) and it is now spinning in the dryer. I have tried to organize mp3 files I have been downloading lately from this invitation-only jazz blog that I recently discovered. They even asked me to be one of the authors/administrators of the blog, but I don't know if I could really offer that kind fo commitment, but we'll see. I may choose to be involved with them in some way. And, most excitedly, I have been finalizing my plans for Europe. It seems now that Mike may be able to meet us in London on the week of his birthday, so we get to spend a day or two there together. Unfortunately, Jeff has to leave earlier because of time constraints in his job, but the time we have there should be a lot of fun. I can't wait. I haven't in in about 13 years or, and I am definitely due for a visit.  They say that for a lot of people, the best part about a vacation is planning it, and I am definitely enjoying trying to figure out where to go, what to see. Of course, I plan to see West End shows. Of course, I want to do sight seeing. Jeff says he hasn't had a chance to fully explore some of the touristic sites, so we plan on doing some of those. Right now, it all just seems so exciting, almost eclipsing my excitement for the July NYC trip I have. I definitely need a vacation - the heat here is getting to be truly unbearable, but we are supposed to spend a night at The Cosmopolitan on Sunday, so that is a treat. I really just want to curl up by the water and read, and get a massage.  Yet why does all of that seem so far right now, like an unreachable oasis in the desert? Oh wow, you know it's really bad when I am reaching for cliched metaphors.

A dream you dream alone is only a dream.
A dream you dream together is reality.
~ John Lennon
